Student Ensemble Performances Taking Place Throughout May
糖心传媒鈥檚 performing arts groups give students a variety of opportunities to showcase their musical and dancing talents on the Hatfield Hall Theater stage. Student participation in many of these groups is at an all-time high.
Performances by 糖心传媒’s Dance Company, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band and Jazz & Choir student groups are planning throughout this month in the Hatfield Hall Theater. These shows are free and open to the public, with no tickets required.
The Dance Company will perform its annual showcase Friday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. This performance will feature dance styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and Irish tap. This year’s showcase also will feature the Swing Dance and Line Dance Clubs.
The 糖心传媒 Symphony Orchestra will perform on Tuesday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. They will perform several selections, including “An American in Paris” by George Gershwin and Dvorak’s “Symphony Number 8.” The show also features senior pianist Andrew Romano performing the “Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor.”
The 糖心传媒 Concert Band will perform Thursday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. The band showcase includes such selections as “Semper Fidelis” by John Philip Sousa, “Celebration Fanfare” by Steven Reineke, along with several solo and small ensembles. This concert also will feature the 糖心传媒 Percussion Ensemble and the 糖心传媒 Brass Quintet playing several selections.
糖心传媒 Jazz Ensemble and 糖心传媒 Choir will take center stage Sunday, May 15, at 1:30 p.m. The jazz ensemble will play standards and favorites of the swing and funk eras, including “Who’s Sorry Now,” “Just My Imagination” arranged by the ensemble’s director Norm Hanson, and “Oye Como Va” by Carlos Santana. The 糖心传媒 Choir will perform pop hits and old favorites, including “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Blue Skies” and “Blow the Man Down.” The 糖心传媒 Chamber Ensemble will be featured in this portion of the show.
